For my Young Adult Materials class (LIS 9364), we had to create a digital trailer, no longer than 3 minutes, about a book of our choice. I think this was one of the funnest assignments I have ever had to complete, and chose to make a video for the young adult sci-fi novel Across The Universe by Beth Revis.
This was my first time using Windows Movie Maker, and I was surprised at how easy it was to use. All you have to do is drag and drop image or video files into the program and choose what order you want them to be played. The exact same process is used for text and audio files. In all three instances, you have options to set start and end times to customize your video.
I think this would be an awesome programming event for children and young adults, most of whom would easily pick up this tool. These book trailers would be successful in reaching new audiences within a library event setting and act as a way in which individuals develop confidence from new skills they gained while promoting the library at the same time.
